I want to dig into a little of what people are doing to make money online today.
There are a variety of methods and tactics that people could use to make money online, but how do you choose which is best for you? Should you try to as many methods as possible to be “diversified”, or should you focus on certain aspects to avoid being very spread out and scattered?
Well, speaking from experience (guilty as charged), I’ve tried the first approach and the best thing I’ve received is some great knowledge of how to work my ass off with very little money to show for it. As I now understand that being less scattered is the way to go, I still find myself chasing some methods that seem profitable.
So how do you actually know what market to target and what people actually want to buy from you?
Just as many successful internet marketers like Alex Jeffreys and Rich Schefren have said, you need to create your own opportunities from what people are telling you online. This concept is exactly opposite to what the majority of online entrepreneurs do; these unsuccessful internet marketers will constantly search for opportunities, but often lead to themselves chasing their own tail.
To be successful at creating a profitable business online, you need to think like a successful online entrepreneur. The thing that separates a failing/working too hard entrepreneur from one who could goes on vacations for weeks and feels comfortable that their business is running smoothly is very simple: you need understand what your customer’s pains are and help them.
There are a multitude of ways to figure out what your potential customers are dying to learn… which will result in money in your pocket. But forget about making any kind of money right now, because once you begin helping people by giving them extreme value, the money will follow.
It’s funny, because you’ll actually start living the life like someone I know.
Here are some quick and simple places to find out what people are dying to learn:
- Yahoo! Answers
- The WarriorForum
- DigitalPoint Forum
- Blurtit
- Looking at various comments on blogs in the niche you’re targeting
When you visit sites like these and others in your niche, be sure to have a notebook handy and keep track of what people are asking questions about. After you’ve compiled a decent amount of information, organize it and see what questions are most popular and would be something you could create a video tutorial about, or any other type of product.
I’ve done this for a Twitter technique that I use to get a quick targeted list of followers. I simply made three tutorial videos showing what I did, and I’ve been able to grow a list of nearly 35 people in a couple days! It really didn’t take much effort on my part, it was just zeroing in on what people are dying to learn.
I hope these points help you out. Also, I want to hear what experiences you’ve had when trying to make money online… a discussion like this could help a ton of people get on the right track quickly!

Hey Dana, thanks for stopping by and leaving a nice complement.
Offering what people need is extremely important. It does seem obvious that internet marketers should always do this, but most people will create products of what satisfies what they want personally. It doesn’t always help people if marketers create those types of products. So it’s always great to think of everyone else’s needs first.
Joe
Hey Joe,
Excellent idea, I always think about writing articles and blog posts about what people are asking about but never thought about the video angle.
I’ll be off to the Warrior forum to do some research now,
not heard of blurtit before looks along the line of Yahoo answers.
Cheers for the idea,
James

Hey James,
Thanks for checking out my blog post!
The video technique is definitely my favorite… you could just show much more detail than writing everything out.
Also, if you create a video product, people usually give it a much higher perceived value. It’s definitely going to be picked over an ebook product… but I’m not saying ignore ebooks. I have one and it’s allowing me to grow a great list and spread knowledge.
I hope these tricks for you!
Talk to you soon.

Hey Joe,
How are you? Been a while
Intersting concept with the video’s and twitter, sounds like you’ve hit on something there!
I am guilty, not been in these forums enough, especially Warrior. I know I am missing a trick here, so thanks for sharing!

Hi Sean,
I”m doing great, Sean. I hope everything’s well on your end!
It’s never too late to get into one of the forums.
I completely recommend the WarriorForum, not only to get some great information, but to build traffic to your product and blog.
I’ve recently checked out where most of my blog traffic is coming from, and the WarriorForum beats out any of the blogs I comment on. Really weird, but it’s another great technique to increase traffic!

Hey Paul,
Thanks for checking out the post, my friend!
I have done all of these techniques that I’ve laid out here.
For the most recent product I put out, I did my research on the WarriorForum and then created a quick 3-video tutorial series that teaches how I grow my Twitter following with targeted people. With this I’ve been able to grow my list by 100 within on week.
So there’s absolutely no fudging anything here… that’s why I wanted to share it all with you.
Look out for my post about the video tutorials coming soon.
Talk soon Paul,

Hey Joe,
Very informative post, and a good summary of one of the topics Rich talked about in the recent Webinar.
I’ve already signed up for Twitter videos, but only just so not watched them yet. But what you talk about here sounds like you’ve caught onto something that could help us all grow our lists at a faster rate.
Way to go, Joe!.. Hey that rhymed!

Hey Paul,
Thanks for the good words, my friend!
I think you’re on to me! I actually have been studying a bunch from what Rich Schefren went over in the webinar and in his various ebooks. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend reading some of his free ebooks on his website.
When you finish watching the videos here, come back and leave a comment. I’d like to see what you make of my technique!

Hi Joe,
This post just caught my eye as it has been something i have been thinking a lot about recently. I have just joined a site called survey monkey and plan to survey my list soon to try and get the best understanding of exactly what their challenges are, what they are looking for and at what level in their business they are at.
This will really help narrow down the things that i offer to them in order to help them.
Some great resources and tips you listed there Joe.
Cheers,
Paul

Hey Paul,
I’m happy this post could help you out. I know figuring out what your customers/subscribers want is very difficult, but there are some great ways to do it.
I have thought about using a service like SurveyMonkey, but have yet to do so… instead I’ve been using these techniques.
Like you said, if you use the resources above to figure out what topics to put on your survey, you should be able to get a really targeted and informed response.
Let me know how this technique works for you… I might just have to do so if it works good for you!
