Don’t worry, I’m not selling any course or any specific seminar in this post!
A couple of weekends ago myself, Matt Wolfe and Josh Bartlett attended Frank Kern’s List Control seminar together at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego (just about a 5 minute drive from my house). Let me tell you, that thing was awesome!!
Here are a few cool pictures from the event…

That’s just a couple from a ton of pictures that we got with some really awesome people who attended.
So what’s really cool about going to these seminars anyway?
What a lot of people think when it comes to seminars is all of the content and information they’re going to go off and use in their businesses.
Well that’s a great reason to attend these things, but not always the only reason.
At Frank’s seminar there were a variety of awesome speakers, including Frank himself. You never know exactly what you’re going to get when going to these events, but you always seem to walk away with a brand new way at looking at your business and how you could do things better.
This seminar was no different. After hearing Bill Glazer and Jordan Belfort (The Wolf of Wall Street) speak, my mind was thinking a whole new way. Not only that, but I was pages and pages deep into my custom List Control notebook with my chicken scratch.
Just as you might have thought, the other (and sometimes more important) reason why I love attending seminars is because of the amazing people you can meet. Not only can you meet some of the speakers and big names in the industry, you meet a huge variety of attendees, some of which could turn into potential business partners.
While at the event and after hearing the speakers and talking to some of the attendees, I’ve been able to gather my thoughts and focus on what is most important in my business and what will further me the quickest.
One of my goals for this year and those to come is to attend a variety of seminars so I can accomplish these two things. Not only are you going to gain some “insider” knowledge, you could meet people who have the potential to change your life!

Joe:
Thanks for sharing your reasons for attending live events. I am new to the industry. I am currently a student of MWA 3.0 so I am just getting started. One of my goals for this year is to attend a live event.
For me there is some fear of felling inferior being there with all of the well known marketers. But I guess they all had to go to their first event in order to make it to where they are now.
If there was one event you would recommend going to, which one would it be and why?
Thanks,
Rick

Hey Rick,
You’ve got a good plan man. And don’t worry about feeling inferior. I’ve felt the same before and the big boys have, too. As long as you can just start up a good conversation with people and make some connections, that’s all that matters.
I met a great number of newbies at the last event and no one ever thought anything less of them.
I would recommend any event with Frank Kern, but there aren’t many of those anymore. The next seminar I’m thinking of attending is the Info Summit: https://www.dankennedy.com/go/e4.
There are new ones all the time and the best way to hear about them are if you’re on some of the big guys’ mailing lists.
Hope that helps man. And hope to see you at a seminar!

Live events are great. The ideas and the synergy are over the top. So is Frank Kern by the way. I saw him at the Magic Bullet System Seminar in San Diego about a month ago.
Keep up the good work, Sandy

Joe looks like you had a great time there.
You’re right you can meet some very interesting people and also pick up some good info from those that are speaking and those dark little corners where you see small groups of people showing you their latest inventions (we are talking magic tricks and magical moves here).
BTW I like this blog. There are some good pieces of advice here. Thanks for sharing.
Hey George – Glad you enjoy the blog, man!
I’m always working on coming up with some good nuggets to give away here, so come back soon.
And I know what you mean about those magic tricks at seminars… you never know what you’re going to learn.

Hey Joe,
Looked like a great seminar. I saw the puppet vid of frank not that long ago great promo thinking.
Have to get to some of these very soon. After watching the Marketing With Alex vegas workshop the content was things that no one else will tell you out there.
Super stuff
Glyn
I don’t think I’ve seen the puppet video… I gotta search for that now.
No doubt man, seminars give you content that isn’t normally discussed too often in the open. A combination of that and meeting great people, you can’t beat it.
Thanks for stopping by!

Hey Joe, wow your pics are like the Internet marketers A-List!

Hey Sally, it was an awesome time. All those guys were really nice to talk to, which is another thing I noticed…
A trait common with all the “gurus” is that they’re really humble and down-to-earth people. Not at all cocky and disrespective (which I’ve met numerous upcoming IMers like this).
I thought that was interesting
Joe
Hi Joe,
That’s great advice. I really made a difference for me when I started attending events last year. I shows people that you are serious about your business when you actually take the trouble to meet them.
Also picked up some great info – the only thing people have to watch out for is getting too much information and seeing too many new ideas that they may want to go out and try instead of sticking to their core plan.
Thanks
Keith

Hey Joe -
Have you ever thought about organizing some local events for San Diego newcomers? I think this industry is especially hard to make “real world” connections in – I know I’d be thrilled to attend a regular lunch or breakfast meeting to mingle with gurus and newcomers alike.
Thanks,
- Chris
Chris, I think an IM event for newbies is a great idea.
I imagine that the price point for typical IM seminars is beyond the budget that beginners have available…
so more regional/local events, catering to beginners would be a great way for any intermediate Internet Marketer to build up the IM ecosystem in their locale.
And to create a future pool of JV partners.
Paying it forward always pays off.
Great suggestion.

Hey Joe,
First of all, nice looking blog, see you made a few changes!
I couldn’t agree more with events, I have been to 2 so far this year and I hope to make another in 2 weeks time in London. As well as meeting the A listers, you also meet and make new friends who will at some point be future JV partners, but also REAL friends.
Its an awesome business Joe
Take care

Hi Joe,
I read your post with GREAT ENVY!!!
My home is in a small, isolated Thai village about 20 miles from the Cambodian border…I am also in Alex Jeffreys MWA3.0 program and loving it…when our power and internet connections are working!
I have promised myself to make the effort and get to seminars. Sure I am a newbie but I love to mix and meet with people who are more experienced then me.
Thanks also for your training videos for Josh Barlett’s fantastic video software. You made it easy for even someone like me to get it up and running!
So if you see a guy at a seminar with “rice straw in his ears” that will be me..your “Thai village entrepreneur”

Hey Joe,
This post must have slipped past me for some reason – and there was me thinking I was keeping on top of my RSS feeds…
It looks like you had a good time at the List Control event and managed to speak to a few big players. The fact there was next to no travelling involved must have been an awesome bonus!
I don’t think I have travelled for less than five hours for any event yet (either in the UK or USA!)
I like the new look by the way – you are one cool dude!
Speak soon,
David
