It’s taken far to long (in my eyes), but there has finally be a huge change in the way blog comments are going to be posted and read by others.
I’m not sure who the brilliant minds are behind this, but we now have the ability to get rid of the “traditional” and boring blog comments and replace them with vibrant and VIRAL Facebook comments!
Sounds cool, huh? Let me explain very quickly…
According to Facebook’s stats, there are over 400 million people signed up for an account. The average user has 130 friends on their account.
So, in theory, if you post a comment on someone’s wall in Facebook, an average of 130 people are going to see it. Now those 130 people have the choice to read the comment and reply. If they were to leave a comment, that opens the door for at least another 130 people to read and respond.
Do you get my drift?
Now if we were to give people the ability to use blogs as our Facebook walls, we’re giving people the ability to spread our work to on average, 130 others.
Think about how awesome it is that 130 people could see the blog post you wrote. Especially if you’re getting less than that many visitors to your blog in the first place?!

This is what happened when I made my first comment using this plugin. With little effort, at LEAST 3 brand new people saw the blog post!
With this new Facebook plugin that just came out for WordPress, with just a couple of clicks, you’ll be able to have Facebook commenting abilities on your blog.
Here’s the link to the plugin (and it’s awesome because it’s free!)
And another reason why traditional blog commenting just sucked…
If I were to leave a comment on your blog and I was expecting a reply, that means I would need to check back very often to that blog post to see if you responded to my comment. Sure you’d love for me to check back all of the time, but that’s just not going to happen all of the time and no one will do that.
With Facebook comments, you’ll be fed any comments that are responded to you straight to either your Facebook account, email or blog.
That sure as hell beats the old school comments!
So from here on out, get the Facebook comments plugin and start putting the thing to use! It’s not only going to spread blog posts virally, you’ll actually see replies you receive from others!
PS – You don’t need a Facebook account to post a comment, so you have NO excuses!

Hi joe,
What a great little plug in you have shared. The viral nature of this style of comments sure beats the crap out of my existing process.
So I better beef up my Facebook account and wall – well done mate and thanks for sharing as always

Hey Joe,
That is actually a cool idea. I have heard of a lot of ways to leverage FB but not this one. You are definitely right. The potential to go viral is huge. This is indeed a great way to get more exposure to your blog.

Hey Fred,
It definitely is, man. I’m happy that it’s so simple to do with any WordPress blog. The only downside that I’ve now realized is that you can’t personally reply back to people’s comments. I’m going to leave these “traditional” comments to give some options. But either way, this feature should be something everyone uses.
Thanks for stopping by!

Ooooh! That is so cool! Facebook is definitely where it’s at these days. I’m surprised that a plugin like this hasn’t been invented before now. Nice!
That’s the same thing I was thinking. It just makes sense to open these comments up to more people than who come to a certain website.
It’s about time!
